About Noah's Ark Photography
We specialize in newborn photography and know just what it takes to make your little peanut look like the most special one in the world. With newborns photography, the most important factors are comfort and safety. This time is one of the most vulnerable times in their lives and we make sure they are as safe as can be. We heat up the studio extra warm and always have an assistant on hand, no matter what arises. We focus on one thing, creating art that will help you remember just what your little one was like when they first came into the world. From professional lighting and props to world-class retouching, you’ll have photography your proud to display in your home.
HOW WE TELL YOUR STORY
We are always humbled by each and every client that chooses us to help tell the story of their life with photography. It is true that a photograph remembers everything.
The emotions and the nuances of the moment that it captured, forever.
Things that our busy minds often forget as time goes on. Photography should be a reflection of all of the little details that make up your existence. Tell us, what kinds of feelings arise when you find a picture of your family in dress clothes (clothes that you never wore except for church and the family portrait) in front of a drab background? Now, what kinds of feelings arise when you find a picture of your family casually laughing, playing, and having fun at the park? Perhaps a little bit more sentimental emotion as you recall such a happy moment in your life. A real moment in your life.
Our style of photography is symbolic of the emotion found in the second example. We want to capture your story with truth and emotion and make your story come alive, complete with all of the emotions and details as they really happened. From maternity and boudoir sessions, to high school senior and family photography, we are honored to have a place in the story of your life.
“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever…it remembers little things long after you have forgotten everything.”-Aaron Siskund, 1903-1991, American photographer
PERFECTLY POSED NEWBORN SESSION
That tiny hand grasping your finger. That crooked little smile. The comfort of your new little miracle resting peacefully in your arms. Emotions stir as you watch your baby sleep, eat, play, and grow every day. Even though there is no way to stop time, newborn sessions were designed specifically to capture and preserve these tender moments so that you will have images to cherish for generations. We know that babies are unpredictable, but these tips will help to make sure that your newborn session goes as smoothly as possible.
SCHEDULING MADE EASY
Don’t worry about scheduling your newborn session around your baby’s most active time.
As a matter of fact, if your baby sleeps during the session, we may be able to get some precious images of that angelic face sleeping! Schedule your session at a time that works for your baby and you. Note – for the first 7-14 days or so, babies sleep for most of the day. If you are looking for images of your baby sleeping, this is the best time to schedule his/her first session.
Keep in mind that at around 3 weeks old, the baby has had the first of many growth spurts and you will notice that his/her skin has usually cleared up to a smooth complexion. The most noticeable months for physical development and milestones for your baby will happen around months 3, 6, 9, and then 12. Many parents love to document the changes with sessions scheduled at these intervals. Schedule your sessions as far in advance as possible in order to guarantee that you will get a time and day that works best for you and your baby.
This may be an obvious one, but when you’ve barely had any sleep and have been adjusting to a new schedule it’s so easy to forget the simplest of things.
Make sure that you have plenty of diapers, wipes, burp cloths, pacifiers, and at least two changes of clothing that will not be used for the session. Throw in anything that your baby is familiar with and loves such as a blanket and a favorite toy.
Our studio has wraps, hats, headbands, furs and cute outfits to chose from for your newborn session. Bring 1-2 of your favorite baby outfits. We will talk about which one will photograph best before your session. Choose a nice variety of textures and colors.
A baby with a full tummy is a usually happy and content baby. Feed your little one as closely to the time of our shoot as possible.
Remember to bring an additional bottle with and make sure that you burp your baby enough to get rid of all of those gas bubbles. Of course, nursing moms are more than welcome to nurse their babies if needed before and/or during the session.
Loosen your baby’s diaper about 30 minutes or so prior to our session.
This will help to eliminate red diaper marks on your baby’s bottom and legs. Also, if you can find diapers with little to no printing on them (like Seventh Generation), those make for great pictures!
THINIK OUTSIDE THE TOYBOX
If you are looking for portraits that reflect the uniqueness of your family, think outside the box. Bring items that mean something to you. If the baby’s daddy is a fireman, bring his helmet. Does your family love baseball? Bring a large mitt as a prop. Have a musician in the family? What about having the baby sleep on sheet music? The possibilities are endless. If you need help thinking of something special, please let me know!
WHAT'S THE GOAL
If you already have in mind how you will be using the images from the session, please let me know before we start. Whether you are looking to make an album, or have wall art made, I can plan our session accordingly with certain poses and shots.
If you are unsure how you will be using them, that’s okay, too! Communication between us is vital to making sure that the end product is exactly what you have been dreaming of.
ALBUMS: Almost every client leaves our studio with an album. It is the perfect way to preserve every single photo that you love. More than a book of photographs, it’s the story of your baby’s journey into the world. Our fine art albums are fully customizable to fit the look and feel of your home. From traditional leather to modern linen covers, we’ll find the perfect look to fit your style.
WALL ART: Newborn wall art is the centerpiece of a nursery. It shows how much you love your little one. Every time you walk in to pick them up, change a diaper or just to check on them, you’ll see your art work. And as they grow older, and bigger, you’ll have this memory forever.
Booking & Payments:
Booking a session with us is as easy as picking up the phone. I advise you to contact us 3-4 weeks in advance in order to get a day and time that best works for you.
HOW TO ORDER:
Approximately 14 business days after your session, we will schedule you for an in person viewing . You will be able to look through the images at our studio and decide how you want to remember these images for a lifetime. We have print packages, al a cart options, and many other custom photography items that we can discuss. Please allow 7-10 business days for your order to arrive.
